Privacy policy
Privacy is of paramount importance to me as an assessor and specialist tutor in Dyslexia / Specific Learning Differences (SpLD). For this reason I’m registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
As a client, your data will only be used for providing the services we agree on, and will not be shared with anyone else without your consent. You have the right to see what data I have, and to ask me to amend or delete it.
I only collect information which is essential for assessment and/or specialist tutoring. Usually that includes not just data such as full names and dates of birth, but background information which is essential in making a diagnostic assessment, including existing documents, completed questionnaires, emails, and telephone calls.
All paper records are scanned and held securely in password protected electronic files on an encrypted drive. Paper records are destroyed as soon as practicable, but in any case on delivery of an assessment report. Personal data is never shared for marketing purposes.
Reports will not be shared with any third party including educational institutions without your consent, or for children under 18, parental consent.
Your personal data rights are protected under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Full details are at the ICO Guide to Individual Rights.
If you make a ‘subject access request‘ to me, I will provide you with a copy of all the data I hold. If you think I’ve mishandled your personal data, you can contact me to withdraw your consent at any time, and I will securely destroy all data I hold. You are also able to make a complaint to ICO.
Aside from the legal requirements, privacy and confidentiality are embedded in the professional practice guidance and codes of practice of the qualification and certifying organisations to which I belong.
